Week 5 of 52 On $100 A Month
With the use of double coupons I was able to stock up on several “expensive” items our family uses regularly plus a few unexpected luxury food items…Here’s a recap of what I purchased this week with my $23.07 grocery budget.
I Spent $10 on a $21 groupon gift certificate to Fat Burger…
Remember the $15 in Fat Burger gift cards the Handsome Husband won at the Christmas Party… Well I figured his winnings plus the $21 groupon ($36 total) would make for a nice family restaurant meal at some point this year… After all… when you are living on a tight grocery budget it pays to plan ahead…
I had done all of the shopping above by Sunday evening…
And that left me with $4.26, $9 in Rite Aid Up Rewards and a $2.69 Albertson’s gift card for the rest of the week…
*****
Wednesday was the start of 7 days of double coupons at Albertson’s.
$1.66
We now have plenty of chips, salsa, guacamole, and hummus for the Super Bowl party…
Oh and Propel… it looks like we’ll be drinking Propel.
See… I do buy normal food too…
Who can complain about whole wheat pasta, tuna, yogurt, and soup?
$2.05
I probably should of held off paying .50 cents each for package of cheese slices… but we go thru quite a bit of grilled cheese sandwich’s around here. The best part of this grouping was the dipping chocolate I scored…
By Wednesday evening I was down to $1.54 in cash,
.18 cents on the Albertson’s card and $4 in Rite Aid Up Rewards.
And my last purchase of the week…
.22cents
I finished out the week with $1.41 in cash, $4 in Up Rewards and .09 cents left on the gift card… I’d say I did pretty well this week. I only spent $21.66
***************
One other thing…
If you’re wondering what I’m doing with the excess grocery money each week from my extravagant $23.07 weekly allotment…
Week #1 $4.25
Week #2 $3.42
Week#3 2.23
Week #4 .11 cents
Week#5 $1.41
I’m saving up… although I’m not exactly sure what for… I’m thinking either a fancy dinner (with the help of my restaurant.com gift certificates) or 4 big fat juicy steaks…
But rest assured…
Mr. Piggy is keeping it safe for now.
