Dumpster diving looks a little tough in the Portlandia area. These people seriously need to to ask their local produce stand for their scraps.
Have a great afternoon!

Hey Mavis! Dumpster diving IS getting a little harder in Portland, as is gleaning from your local grocery store. Many stores here donate their not so great produce, as well as perishables that have reached their sell-by dates, to Oregon Food Bank. Every weekday several trucks make the rounds of grocery stores, then crews of volunteers check every item – in the many thousands of pounds – to see that it’s safe to eat. The food is then given to local hunger relief agencies for distribution to clients who meet financial guidelines. This program has made a huge difference in the lives of Oregonians who are unable to afford enough nutritious food to feed their families.

I think it’s awesome there are agencies that are willing to make the rounds to pick up the excess produce and to give it to people who can actually use it rather than throwing it away. 🙂 Awesome Possum!

That was truly disgusting and hilarious. I wanted to retch as I laughed. I am a clean diver and friends say that if I will eat it, so will they. (I have been known to be picky about food.)
