While the Girl and I were driving back from our 4 day road trip on Monday we called the HH to give him our ETA and to check in. He said he was “doing the wash, washing dishes and cleaning up.”
Cool beans, I thought to myself. I’m going to walk in the house and the whole place is going to be nice and clean.
And it was, for the most part.
Well, except for the laundry room.
Apparently this is my husband’s version of “doing the laundry”.
I like how he removed the link from the dryer and then left it on the counter for the magical fairies to take it away.
Folding laundry perhaps?
Which is odd. Because the only thing in our dresser is socks and underwear and I don’t fold those. Every other article of clothing we own is hung in the closet.
After 22 years…how has he not noticed that?
And my personal favorite.
The clothes are clean, so let’s throw them on the floor.
So ya. Welcome home. ๐ ๐ ๐

P.S. Who does the laundry in your home?

Pretty funny. Our laundry room is small and also serves as a guest bathroom, so we can’t keep it too messy. I also have a family of seven, and there is no way I’m doing the laundry for seven people, only myself and my youngest. I teach my kids how to do it, and my husband does his own. I help where needed, though, just to move it along.

I do it. I’ve always done it. The one time my husband did it he shrunk two cashmere sweaters and that was the end of that. When I travel, he sends his dirty stuff along with his dry cleaning…even undies and socks! I think that is so odd.
I’m not even sure he knows how to turn on the new washer and dryer we have.
I always did it for my kids too, even when they were adults in college. I actually get great satisfaction from seeing it all clean, folded or hung up. Plus when they would bring it home for me to do in college…I could tell just what they had been up to from the odds and ends in their pockets.

I can relate–but at least your husband knows where to find the laundry room.

Everyone does their own. I only have one teenage child, so she needed to learn to do laundry before she leaves the house. Our laundry is in the kitchen, so it has to keep moving or smell like cooked food. My husband’s mother did everything for him. Before we married, I made him spend a Sunday with my family, doing laundry and cleaning house. My parents both worked, so chores were assigned and everyone helped. I was not marrying someone I had to clean up after continuously.

Your floors must be so clean he figured it was ok to put clean clothes on them!!

Husbands are special aren’t they? The other day I asked my husband to “turn over the laundry” which to us means start a new load and put whatever was in the wash into the dryer. Then he calls down to me “honey are the clothes in the dryer clean???” Oy

Oh. That is awesome!

My husband will do his laundry but he also leaves the lint on the counter. And drapes his clean clothes over the kitchen chairs instead of hanging them up -sometimes for days. Husbands have their own ways of doing things for sure.

Neither my husband or my children (adult at that) are permitted to do laundry in my house. So sick of ‘accidentalness’ when the washer gets severely overloaded with colors mixed with whites…everything comes out gray and washer breaks down. Things got so bad at one point that I sent my husband to get his hearing checked. Don’t even get me going about how to load the dishwasher ๐

Well, at least he made the effort. He gets points for that! Men do have their own way of doing things!

My husband can do laundry, but I don’t let him. I do sometimes do his separate from mine. He doesn’t just get dirty, it’s nasty! LOL I’m lucky in that he can fix my washer when it breaks down, if it’s fixable. He cooks too. But doesn’t clean up after himself.

I guess I am more spoiled than I thought as my husband does all the laundry. If pre-treating required, I must do that, as he does not check for stains. Also need to make sure my pockets are empty. If anything needs special treatment,I either explain what needs to be done or do it myself. No complaints as he does a pretty good job. Our laundry is in an unfinished basement, so not fancy, but still clean.

Remember coming home once to a vacuumed house (unusual occurrence). Husband followed me around for 15 minutes awaiting a compliment. Finally he mentioned it and I replied, “Thankless job, isn’t it?” I got a temporary chuckle for myself but he never vacuumed again. Expensive humor for myself. He was so good in other ways that I have no complaints.

Speaking of husbands who just can’t figure this out….go to youtube and search for ‘Any guy can relate to this mystery.’ So funny!!!!! and absolutely true!!!!

My Husband sent me that link a few weeks ago. Hilarious but sadly true. He self cleans to a point. I can’t complain as he keeps the cars clean, gassed and serviced.

We both do laundry – yay!
I only fold and put away when there is absolutely NOTHING else to do in the world. I think I have an allergy to it.
Husband will fold more often.
I like hanging it out and bringing it in from the line (No lint filter issues here)

I wash and dry. My husband can do it just fine, but I tend to get to it first. I like it. But I loath folding. So my husband often does that before I get to it. The same goes for putting clean dishes away from the dishwasher- I loath that.
